The Bihar government has asked all District Magistrates to upload the pending applications of 8,556 arms licences in the "National Database of Arms Licences - Arms License Issuance System (NDAL-ALIS)
A portal developed by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) at the earliest for their further processing in electronic form.
In a letter sent to all DMs on Tuesday (February 21), the Bihar Home Department said, “Under rule 16 of the Arms Rules, 2016, the Licensing Authority while granting or renewing a licence or at the time of rendering any allied service to any licensee under these rules shall ensure that the details of the transaction approved by him were simultaneously updated in electronic form in the NDAL-ALIS system under his login ID”.
According to the law, all individual firearm licences that are not uploaded to the NDAL-ALIS portal are considered invalid.
